Housejob Tales (1)

This is just a short narration detailing my hustles to get housejob in Lagos as a newly-graduated Dentist(Dr).

You see, after medical training, you graduate older than all your other peers, ‘cos you’ve stayed in the system longer and in the system, times moves more slowly. Your secondary school mates that picked four year courses fit don marry, buy moto, born twins, and your old raggedy ass will still be sitting in exam halls shading scantron sheets and pursuing patients like a kidnapper, all ontop medical training. And then you manage to graduate, and even then you’re still not free to go, for after the joy of graduation, you don’t go straight to NYSC, you firstly have to do internship/housemanship for a year. It’s the medical community’s way of ensuring that a dangerous doctor, physiotherapist, pharmacist or lab scientist doesn’t slip through the cracks, a way of rendering final polish to the medical mind.

This is another hustle on it’s own. If two years pass and a doctor cannot find internship for whatever reason, MDCN (Medical and Dental Council Of Nigeria) will have you retake your professional exams again to prove you’re still fit to remain a doctor. Imagine that! You’ll basically re-sit your final year exams, this time the questions will be drawn by MDCN themselves. LOL! Se Ogun laiye ni!!

I hope you like this first part. Part 2 will be released in a few days. Click the title link above and enjoy.
